Pruning questions?

How and when should I prune:

ivory halo dogwoods
wine and rose wiegelas
arrowwoods (Chicago luster vibernums)
compact burning bushes
densi yews
green gem boxwoods
miss kim lilacs
knock off rose shrubs

Ok here goes. I would not touch the dog woods since when pruned or cut are susceptible to disease. I would let it be natural unless for some reason it is growing in a window or something. As for weigelas, prune after they bloom and you can treat them like hedges and prune more then once if you need to. Flowers happen on new growth any way. Stop before hard frost of course. Arrow woods or viburnums can be pruned after flower if you don’t mind loss of berries if this species does them. If they do berries I would leave them till spring then trim lightly before new leaves and growth appear. Densi yews can be treated like a hedge also and cut close and nice. You may have to prune or cut them several times a season with some wild growth happening it will be ok up until Oct. then cut no more for any new growth it pushes will freeze out. Same with gem boxwoods. Miss Kim lilacs prune only after flowering, in fact treat yourself to a bouquet in side which is great to do but when done you can cut off the old blooms which are turning to seeds and the plant does not need that stress. Also take out any old dead branches that may crop up. As for the knock off rose shrubs after they are done blooming but not late into fall since there can be freeze off. Happy clipping and gardening. Hope this has helped some.
