Do You Think This Is A Good Idea?
I am thinking of getting my horse

the Jolly Ball in mint scent.
What I want to know is do horses actually play with them? The only time I’ve seen them they tend to be left forgotten in the corner of a field. It is for my horse when he is in the sand pen (not allowed in the field with other horses and he fights a lot), he is quite playful and I think he’d like it.
Oh and it couldn’t get kicked out through the fence or under it as its to big for that. He might throw it out though?
As usual NO stupid answers please
He already has a treat ball which he loves, but I can’t put that in the pen as its sand based so he’d just end up eating a load of sand (when it comes to food he’s a bit like a Hoover lol) + he’s on a bit of a diet.
He also has a likit in his stable is ignoring that a bit though, don’t think he likes the cherry one as its lasting forever when the apple on lasted a few days.
My arab x and my stb never played with their jolly ball. We eventually gave it to a friend with goats who adored it. When my arab x passed we got a new horse and he adores the jolly ball. We figured he might because he has to put his mouth on everything and will even make up games with branches he finds on the ground in the pasture. He has even gotten my stb into playing with it. He is a bit chubby so we don’t want his entertainment to be food at all, and the ball is great for us.
Sometimes one will play with the ball alone kicking it through the field or picking it up and throwing it. Sometimes they will play tug of war with it or a game that looks like keep away. Sometimes the ball is crushed completely flat when we go out, and then we have to squish it back into shape.
Here are a few pics of mine playing keep away with their ball. Sorry they aren’t great, but I was worried if I went outside they’d stop so I’m zoomed in as far as I can go through a window.

I want to get a large “horse soccer” ball for them this year if I can. I think they’d like that as well, but they do enjoy the small ball with the handle.
Just to let you know when we went to TSC to pick out the ball I sniffed all of them and to me the only one that had a strong scent was the Blueberry one so we picked that scent. It could be the other balls were older, but I thought the stronger smell would get their interest more.
