What is the best medium for fine detail, oil painting?

I’ve already tried standard liquin for fine details like eye lashes and stray hairs, but I find that the paint doesn’t flow very well, and it’s very hard to get the balance between opacity/transparancy? Someone has recommended M.Graham Alkyd Walnut medium, saying it’s better than Windsor & Newton Fine Detail medium, though I’m still undecided on what to buy. Any ideas? Any helps much appreciated, thanks

Oil pastels crayons were originally used only for fine detail and touch-ups on oil paintings. With a blade you could slice the tip for whatever mark it is that you want to make.
