Fans Can’t Get Enough of the NFL
American Football generally vies with Baseball and Basketball to claim the title most popular sport in America. However in recent years American Football has probably taken the title and its popularity grows year by year for a number of reasons. It is one of the most exciting games to watch and the explosive action and tremendous athletes involved in the game can bring a crowd to its feet like no other sport. The main event of the season comes down to the Super Bowl, in which the 2 best teams from the regular season vie for the Vince Lombardi Trophy. Vince Lombardi himself was the legendary coach of the Green Bay Packers team who won the first two Super Bowls. When Lombardi died of cancer in 1970, the original name of the trophy was changed in commemoration.
The Super Bowl is one of the must see events when it is played and is viewed by millions of American fans and also by millions more around the world. There have been many excellent sides who have won the trophy over the years and many star players who have lit up American Football and the Super Bowl. In recent years the Pittsburgh Steelers has been one of the teams who have dominated and their defeat of the Arizona Cardinals in 2009 made them the first team in history to win the trophy six times. In general, the quarterback is the star player as well as the overall leader of the team when on the field; many great players have excelled in this position over the years. Joe Montana was the legendary quarterback of the San Francisco 49s who was a Super Bowl winner on no fewer than four occasions. Others who have starred in the position include John Elway of Denver Broncos fame who claimed two Super Bowls late in his career and Brett Favre whose career statistics are probably the best in the history of the game. Favre managed to grab one Super Bowl title.
Overall the sport of American Football is one of the most popular in America and is also admired and watched by many around the world. For many years ot come fans will continue to look forward to the next Super Bowl, time and time again. Even our dogs enjoy the games, touting their dog nfl jerseys the entire time! We always have dogs that come over wearing various team jerseys, like a Saints dog jersey!
