Can I pay a debt to itunes with an itunes giftcard?

I have an outstanding balance of $36 and i put two 15 dollar gift cards on my itunes account and when i redeem them it says “$0.00 of your redeemed card has been used to pay your outstanding balance”. How do I get it to pay it off?

And if you mean you had $36.00 to spend, once your account is updated you should have 51.00 available to spend…
