Is denver a good place to Live?
My Fiancee and I live in Texas and are ready to Live together and Move to a New City. We have Denver set in mind but don’t know much about the city. We are both young and are looking for Jobs and an Apartment. What I would like to know is, is the Weather Nice? Snow? Places to go? Things to See?
Weather nice? It’s all relative to what you’re comparing it to. Denver has 300 days of sun. Highs in the 80s-90s in the summer, but there’s little humidity, so it’s more pleasant than it sounds. In the winter, the highs are in the 40s-50s. It snows, but the snow usually melts within a few days.
Denver is about 30 minutes to the mountains and about 70 minutes to world class ski resorts.
Overall, it’s a great city if you like being near the mountains to pursue outdoors stuff. Otherwise, it’s more or less the same as any other US city. The City of Denver itself is nice and has unique neighborhoods. However, the suburbs are all sprawled out and full of cookie cutter houses, Applebee’s, The Olive Garden, and strip malls.
FYI, some Colorado natives resent people who move here from Texas and California. So, if you do move here, get your license plates changed quick.
