Geforce 8500 GT Issues, Could my processor be at fault?
My current system specs.
Amd Athlon 64 Ultra 3800
DDR mem 2gig
MSI 7125 Mobo
I had a geforce 6800gs.
My programs ran fine, but the newer games and that would not run. So i decided to upgrade my current Video card. I did this as I will be getting a new PC in about 8 months but I needed just something to work for now.
Crysis runs fine, where as before it wouldnt run at all. Many of the new games run without a problem.
But one of my Games DDO, does not run well. It actually runs worse. It has a graphics glitch that makes my screen lag jump about every .5 second.
My question is that I am thinking that my Video card might be too fast for my processor causing a bottlekneck and If I upgrade to a dual core that may alleviate some issues. I need some advice if possible?
I would not say that your processor is the bottleneck in this setup.
The 8500gt is not a monster of a card, and the Athlon 64 you have is fully capable of handling the data from that card.
Since the issue is isolated to one game, your problem is more likely to stem from either a software update that is needed for DDO or possibly a driver issue.
I would go to the User forums for DDO and check to see if this is a known issue. If it is, then just follow their directions on how to fix it.
If there is no information there, then I would suggest trying a newer or older driver for the video card and also make sure you have all windows updates.
If that doesn’t solve it, try to see if there is a new patch for DDO.
