does whole wheat uncooked pasta ever go bad?

i see it has a best buy date but i cant read it, its printed on top of a partof the box with `print already on it. and i got to wondering wheather or not uncooked pasta could go bad? especially wanting to know about whole wheat pasta because thats what i have. its still securely packaged.. and someone gave it to use a WHILE ago.

All things decay and so we preserve them to make them last a bit longer. We freeze and refrigerate and can food …but it still decays, just more slowly. Pasta is dried wheat and keeps very well indeed until it is opened, when air will start to oxidise it and make it go bad – eventually. If it is a sealed packet it should be fine. Best thing is to cook a few pieces as per instructions, then taste it. It will taste mouldy if it’s gone bad. However, it’s about a dollar/pound per kilo packet so why not just get some more? If in doubt, throw it out, as we say in the catering trade!
