Date Coin

To all coin collectors, i found a old coin with the date 1379?
The coin is about the size of a quarter and looks to be bronze or gold or something. On one side it says 1379 and on the other side it says five cents in trade. Can you tell me what kind of coin this is and if it is worth anything.
Most likely, what you have is some sort of token that was issued by a private business, perhaps a company town where a mining company or textile mill was dominant. Thus, it is more likely that the coin is actually dated 1879 and that part of the 8 has worn away. While the derivation of the word cent comes from a Latin word, I don’t recall any country using the cent as a denomination of currency during the 14th century. Also, the verbage about the coin being worth something “in trade” leads me to believe it was not issued by a government but by a private entity — were it issued by a government, it would have universal acceptance and thus not need definition. Of course, if you had a picture of the coin or token, someone could give you a definitive answer about exactly what you had.
