Not a moral dilemma – but merely the art of politics. Few people believe that any given president does not have the interest of the nation at heart. However, there have been few presidents – aside form Washington – who had the backing of the entire nation. There are pros and cons to every issue, and hindsight provides a great lens to dissect a presidency.
You don’t mention Monroe, or Andrew Johnson, or Grant, or Coolidge. Pick a presidency (aside from the few that died early in their term) and you can hold a lively debate on the merits of that administration. That is politics.
