Commemorative Peace

Peace And Hope For Mothers Day
To all of the mothers whose youngsters are preventing in wars – and to mothers whose children are rising up with wars raging round them or with terrorism threatening their safety… Needs of power, peace and hope for this Mom’s Day…
Arise then…women of today!
Arise, all women who’ve hearts!
Whether or not your baptism be of water or of tears!
Say firmly:
“We won’t have questions answered by irrelevant businesses,
Our husbands won’t come to us, reeking with carnage,
For caresses and applause.
Our sons shall not be taken from us to unlearn
All that we have been capable of teach them of charity, mercy and patience.
We, the ladies of one country,
Might be too tender of these of another nation
To permit our sons to be educated to injure theirs.”
From the bosom of a devastated Earth a voice goes up with
Our own. It says: “Disarm! Disarm!
The sword of murder isn’t the balance of justice.”
Blood does not wipe our dishonor,
Nor violence indicate possession.
As males have often forsaken the plough and the anvil at the summons of battle,
Let ladies now go away all which may be left of home
For a terrific and earnest day of counsel.
Let them meet first, as ladies, to bewail and commemorate the dead.
Allow them to solemnly take counsel with one another as to the means
Whereby the nice human family can stay in peace…
Every bearing after his personal time the sacred impress, not of Caesar,
However of God -
Within the name of womanhood and humanity, I earnestly ask
{That a} general congress of ladies without limit of nationality,
Could also be appointed and held at someplace deemed most convenient
And the earliest period per its objects,
To advertise the alliance of the completely different nationalities,
The amicable settlement of worldwide questions,
The good and basic pursuits of peace.
Would not it’s wonderful if on some distant Mom’s Day, the desires of Julia Ward Howe could possibly be fulfilled and the human race may rejoice a day when, all over the world, no mother would have to mourn the dying of her little one misplaced in battle or terrorist attacks…
To all the moms whose children are fighting in wars – and to moms whose children are growing up with wars raging around them or with terrorism threatening their safety… Wishes of power, peace and hope for this Mother’s Day…
