I am a coin collector, I have several foreign bills and coins, was wondering?
anyone know how to locate a coin person who is reputable, other than BBB? What do you look for? Thanks for the help.
Well, the way to know about the honesty of coin dealers is to know something about coins when you deal with them. For instance, I once had a coin dealer offer to sell me a German coin from 1936 for *only* $25.00. Well, I have dealt with plenty of German coins, and even if I hadn’t, I understand that coins, outside of rarity or *flaws* that are considered to give a higher value, are really only worth the metal they are made of, and modern coins are not generally made of any precious metal.
The coin he was offering for $25.00 would have most likely gone for no more than a dollar…if it were in excellent condition. I have bought plenty of such coins for about 25ยข, on average. Except for mint sets, the most I have ever paid for coins was less than $20.00, and that was for “Lazaretos”, coins that were former currency in leper colonies in South America.
