Coin Double

Why do you think the goverment is so set on destroying all Double-Eagle coins?
I just read about the story of the Double Eagle coin that was created in the 1930′s. Some got out and weren’t meant to and to this day the goverment is set on finding these coins, seizing them and destroying them.
Why do you think that is?
Kind of weird if you ask me..
In the 1930′s the congress and President Roosevelt stole the citizens gold to back their depression programs, fortify commerce with other nations, and to allow a 60% inflation of the nations currency. Fiat currency was issued with no hard backing except one dollar “silver certificates” were still backed by an once of silver. The silver was later stolen by congress and President Johnson.
The gold and silver money belonged to the citizens, not the government. It was just “reserved” by the government, or certified as to weight and content by coinage the government minted. Paper gold and silver certificates substituted for the coins because larger quantities of those were difficult to carry. Paper “bills” were much more convenient. The metal itself was stored for backing each “bill” issued. When silver still backed one dollar bills a friend of mine stopped at the Philadelphia Mint up the street and came out with one once of silver he had collected for the one dollar “silver certificate” he gave them.
We are guaranteed the right to military weapons for stopping such betrayals from government but the citizens were panicked then by the economic devastation from more hordes of desperately overpopulated European cultures again flooding in and undercutting wages as they had throughout the 19th century. Many trusted Roosevelt and hoped his plans would relieve their distress.
Government never wants to permit their edicts to be countered or rejected. They consider it a bad precedent that could be repeated. They are just following through with their edict almost a century ago and resent someone avoiding it.
