We have a American silver dollar marked 1920, Coin Collectors How is this possible? ?

I’m doing research for a play, in it we need an American silver dollar. We have found one and the date on it says 1920. But, I know from research that no silver dollars where produced here from 1904 to 1921. How is this possible? It is not fake, we have had it appraised and all the tell tale signs of an authentic silver dollar are there. Whats the deal?

the US never minted any dollar coins in 1920. what i believe you have is either a HALF dollar coin, or a 1900 or 1930 dollar that the date has been damaged by circulation, or just somebody with too much time on their hands. if you would describe the features on the coin (or posted a picture), perhaps we could be more exact.
