what is the highest challenge coin?
I’ve been in the Army four years. My second year in the Army I got my first coin from a Colonel. My third year I got one from a two star. This year I got one from the Secretary of Defense. Is there any other person of a higher “rank” who issues coins?
Challenge coins are not important based on the status of the person who presented it to you. It gains its importance from the reason you recieved it. One of hubby’s most treasured coins was from an airman whom he helped get into TI school. When he got his first set of TI coins, he sent my husband one as a thank you. Another was from his group commander, upon his retirement. Hubby really admired this man, looked to him as a father figure, and would do anything for him. Hubby was one of two enlisted persons he specifically called out while handing out thank yous and accolades.
The one he got from the SecDef is not important to him at all. Everyone in the line got one. Another from a 1star means nothing to him. They are cool to have, but they are meaningless.
