Certified Anacs

What are the chances of my Old cerfitifed ANACS coin grading higher in there newer standards?

I recently purchased a 1922 No D ANACS Certified Wheat Penny. It is housed in one of their very old holders which states a “Net” Grade and a “Details” grade.

I decided to send it back to ANACS to get it reholdered into the new holder. I had called them and they said they dont do “Net” grading anymore, which i knew already, but what i was wondering is if it will grade higher than the “Net” grade stated on the coin? It says “Fine Details with Net VG8″. The net grade was basically used to kinda give the consumer or buyer an idea of what the problem with the coin could do to the value. The details grade is the actual level of wear to the coin, and in my opinion the “Actual” grade.

If i send it back what are the chances it will come back as a F-12 of F-15, rather than the stated VG-8 grade already?

Thanks everyone!

Any ANACS coin with both Details and Net grades is a problem coin. There is no chance the coin will come back any higher today than the net grade it was given previously.

You misunderstood what they told you. Net grading is ALL they do now. The grade is the grade. What they no longer do is grade problem coins with the actual grade and the higher grade the coin would have obtained without the problem.

Your view of this, ‘The details grade is the actual level of wear to the coin, and in my opinion the “Actual” grade.’ is wrong, and you should drop it. This is the attitude of sellers who willfully misrepresent problem coins to unsuspecting buyers, and damages the hobby. These people put money above integrity.
