Why buy costly, new computers and IT equipment?…Mr Russell Jackson thinks of string beans

Why buy costly, new computers and IT equipment?…

This  recession has bitten viciously, it’s no fun at all for most people.
We live in tough days when every penny counts.

I was eating lunch the other day and I came across a curly string bean…
It was curious, eccentric but it tasted exactly the same as the others.
I thought of those huge supermarkets who reject and trash
string beans because they are bent, too short or too big.

‘Ugly’, unusual, knobbly,  fruits and vegetables, produce
that don’t fit into the ‘norm’ are still very good good eating!

If presented in an appealing way they could be sold up to
40 per cent cheaper than their perfectly formed cousins.
The same could be said of pre-owned computers and IT equipment

In these hard days, the waste of valuable resources like these
poor little innocent vegetables is viewed as inexcusable.
People are now persuaded to re-use, recycle and ‘patch up and make do’.
It’s no longer seen as ‘cheap’ or ‘tacky’…it’s sensible!

Consider pre-owned computers and IT equipment….
Costly, brand new computers and IT equipment are always at jolly treat.
But have you considered the wisdom of buying pre-loved items?

-It’s green…you give them a new lease of life

-It’s cheaper…you can buy them for a bargain price

-It gives you a sense of personal satisfaction having ‘hunted down’
an ideal item for your needs.

There must be enough pre-loved equipment around
to make buying new ones make little sense.

It’s rather like buying a new car and driving it out of the showroom.
That automobile’s value plummets the second you hit the road.

Many pre-loved items are in near-perfect condition.
Some may be still unopened in their original box.

It all depends on their source.
So what if it has a tiny scratch or  dink?
It shows a sense of personality and character.

If it does the job perfectly, why bother too much
about minor cosmetic imperfections.

It’s a good job that women don’t choose husbands
on the ‘perfect beauty ratio’.
We are not all Brad Pitt or George Clooney-likes.

When buying pre-loved gear make sure you take
the time to do a little sensible research.
If you are not an expert, perhaps a knowledgeable
friend can do so on your behalf.

A good computers and IT equipment provider will bend
over backwards to answer all of your questions.
Don’t worry about looking foolish, just ask.

Check out the terms and conditions of sale thoroughly.
Is the item fully functional?

Some items may be not be fully functioning and reputable
providers should state this.
Some customers adore semi-functioning items, as they cost a fraction
of the ‘new’ price and they are skilled enough to fix them up.

With a little care, research and consideration pre-loved computers
and IT equipment buys seem like a prudent option.

I will now go and eat my greens.
