Discovery and mixtapes
Nicki Minaj began her profession in 2004 singing background vocals and hooks for local rappers. She was discovered on MySpace by Soiled Money CEO Fendi, who signed her to that label. After appearing on “The Carter Edition” of Young Money’s The Come Up DVD collection, Minaj was contacted by Lil Wayne. The two collaborated on quite a lot of mixtape tracks. In April 2007, she released her first mixtape, Playtime Is Over, posing as a Barbie doll on the cover. Lil Wayne appeared on the observe “Can’t Cease, Will not Stop.”
In 2008, Minaj released the mixtape Sucka Free. She appeared within the July challenge of XXL magazine, giving a brief overview of her life thus far. Later that year, she received ist of the Year on the Underground Music Awards.

The music video for the only premiered on BET’s 106 & Park on Wednesday, March 31 and options Sean Garrett, with a cameo appearance by Amber Rose. The song is the lead-off single from Minaj’s as-yet-untitled debut album that is set for a summer time 2010 release. Regarding notable beatmakers who may grace the album, Minaj has stated, “On my debut, I labored with Sean Garrett. And probably Swizz Beatz, he is gonna ship me something. [But] I like to work with unknown producers as well, so I settle for beats from everybody.” Garrett, who’s featured on and produced Minaj’s first single, lately[when?] informed Rap-Up.com that he has contributed additional tracks. “She just desires to make it as enormous as potential,” he said of the project.
Although the album was scheduled for release as early as March 2010, Minaj does not see any cause to rush it, stating she did not really feel pressured to prematurely launch the album. For quality’s sake, she plans to take her time to get the fitting information and collaborations together.
Minaj will launch “Your Love” because the second single from her debut album, after the leaked version began receiving heavy airplay on the radio after being launched on the Barbie World mixtape. A music video for the single is about to be shot as confirmed by Minaj.

“I think it’s … essential that individuals get accustomed to seeing a female rapper once more,” Minaj says. “Before I drop an album, folks want to come back out and see. Individuals don’t even know what a feminine rapper does. We’re so not used to seeing it. It is nonexistent in categories. Influences
Minaj has cited various artists who have influenced her musical style. Among others, she has cited Lauryn Hill as a major musical influence. In an interview with VladTV.com, Minaj also mentioned Natasha Bedingfield as a musical favourite, and Jada Pinkett Smith as a serious affect on her desire to be an actress. She is influenced by the unpredictable rhymes of Missy Elliot together with the sexually charged attitudes of Lil’ Kim and Cunning Brown.
In an interview with Vibe, Minaj was asked what sort of influence Lil Wayne has had on her profession, to which she answered, “Wayne has at all times been my largest influence… I at all times say that that is what I learned from Wayne essentially the most; he by no means stops grinding. It confirmed me, Yo, this dude is the truth, and I’m going to follow in his footsteps.”
