What is the hypnogogic state, is it’s symbolism useful to us?
I know there is a psychotherapy that deals with the subconcious, which is logical.
But what about the hypnogogic state inbetween conciousness and sleep? When I am falling asleep I see these very surreal images, just flashes. They do not make sense. What are they? Should I take them seriously?
For example : one time I saw a bush with a bunc of flat metal hands with designs on it. Suddenly the hands all started flapping. Then the other day, when my mind was agitated, I saw scary faces like decayed faces of odd shapes.
When I see images like this, I know I will soon fall asleep.
Yeah, I don’t think they are too important, but what are they?
Is it from my bipolar disorder?
I wouldn’t place too much emphasis on hypnogogic or hypnopompic hallucinations. They are typical in that state that you were talking about. I don’t believe that the hallucinations have been shown to be associated with subconscious.
