Buffalo Nickles

Anyone know anything about buffalo nickles?

I have a nickle that looks like a buffalo nickle on the back, but it has a different picture than the indian on the front. I can’t tell if it’s been defaced, or if it’s a defect of some kind. Anybody know where I’d look to find out? Or does anybody know about this stuff?

You may have what is called a HOBO Nickel. Back during the great depression, Hobo’s would usually hand carve the Indian side of the nickel and make it into a clown or bearded guy with top hat and many more images. They traded them for a meal.
