Bicentennial Medal

Why are U.S.-born Chicano boxers like Sergio Mora and Victor Ortiz pushed to represent Mexico on Saturday?
Saturday’s big boxing card at the Staples Center in L.A. is being promoted with Mexican flags and we hear Victor Ortiz and Mora being touted as fighting for Mexico. I understand that Mexican Independence Day and Bicentennial is today and weekend celebrations will continue, but I find it a little disturbing that De La Hoya, who is a natural-born U.S. citizen and won an Olympic Gold Medal for the U.S. does this kind of self-serving and devisive ethnic/nationalistic promotion. Of the four fighters heading this card, only one is Mexican (Saul Alvarez), and he looks Irish!!!!
well this fight will bring lot of money from mexican fans….in thats what golden boy pro. wants…..
and well oscar de la hoya knows his mexican people well…he knows that we consider all mexican american to have mexican blood and he knows that some mexicans dont really look to where the fighter was born…if we see a mexican american triumphing in here we going to support them…because of their mexican descent./..
