Why did the Fab Five go to Michigan?
I would just like to know why they chose Michigan over powerhouses at the time shuch as Duke, UNLV, UNC, or Kentucky? Ranked #1 – Webber, #3 – Howard, #6 – Rose, #9 – King, and #84 – Jackson. Why didnt they go to a team they pretty much almost knew they would win a championship in their freshman years? Did they all know each other and wanted to just play on the same team together and knew that they had to go to a non powerhouse school to do so?
Michigan won the NCAA title in 1989, has always been a powerhouse, and Chris Webber was from Detroit MICHIGAN. He convinced Juwan Howard and Jalen Rose to come to Michigan at a Nike camp as a senior in HS.
That, and Michigan paid them.
