How can I get all three starters in Pokemon Soul Silver?

I just got Pokemon Soul Silver, and remembered how in the original Pokemon Silver, there was a glitch to get all three starters and wanted to know if there is another way to get all three starters in Soul Silver without the Action Replay because my friend is borrowing it and he is in another country for the summer. Please Help.

You can get one starter first and play until you reach Violet City or any other city that has a Pokemon center. Then trade the Pokemon to one of your friends. This means you have to have a friend with a Pokemon game for DS. Once you have traded it over, restart the DS, go to the Pokemon menu and restart the game. then repeat this process with one of the other Pokemon. Restart once more and play with the last starter, once you reach a city with a Pokemon center, get your friend to trade back the two other starters. You can now play with all 3.
