How can I get peter greens guitar tone on john mayalls “a hard road” album?

My amp setup is the following. I have a marshall half stack with a jcm 2000 head and I also have a Line 6 Spider III head.

It’ll help to use a vintage Les Paul with PAF humbuckers.

But they cost about $120,000 now a days.

So I guess you could get away with a modern LP.

Most of those old Marshall guys simply plugged in and played. Relying on good old fashioned tube break up at high volume to get that sound.

That Marshall should do the trick. Crank it up as high as it’ll go and turn down the volume on the guitar to control it.
